Trans Locator - System for transient source localization based on hierachical distributed processing

This project is aimed to design an innovative distributed system for the localization of electrical transient sources in high voltage cables. The next figure illustrates the general organization of the system in the context of on line distributed monitoring of power lines.


The signal processing innovations are issued from our activities in GREENAR and Arc Locator projects. The main innovation, which is subject of French patent no. 14/50348 of January 16th 2014, is based on the advanced and non-parametric characterization of transients arrived at different sensors of the system. Then, the main advantages of the system are :

- Non Intrusive Sensor Coupling

- SYNCHRONISATION FREE, that implies longer localization ranges.
